Winter in the mountains

Winter in the mountains
'' "When was the last time you listened to silence in a snowy forest? The untamed luxury of the mountains without artifice... A back-to-basics feel-good factor!"

An authentic mountain village

Crévoux may be a village nestled at the bottom of a wild valley, but you'll find all the services you need for your stay here: hotel and rentals, bars and restaurants, local craftsmen and producers, groceries and a tobacconist's.

For the rest, Embrun and its shops are only 13km away, and in any case, it's a must before heading up into the valley, so don't forget it 😉 !

Once you've taken care of the organization and logistics, all you have to do is enjoy! The advantage of a small ski resort like Crévoux is that everything is simpler. Everything can be done on foot, from the shops to the ski lifts, from the terraces of the bars and restaurants to the slopes.

Crévoux has two main living and working areas:

  • The snow front, above the village: this is where you'll find the ski lifts, the French Ski School, the equipment rental companies and all the services. In season, the snow front also boasts a safe toboggan run for children, and sunny terraces are never far away for parents in need of vitamin D. Ideal for a relaxed family holiday.
  • The foyer nordique, in the hamlet of La Chalp, is the starting point for cross-country skiing, biathlon and snowshoeing. It's also an ideal setting for simple family outings or the timeless sledging and snowman races. The great classics of winter in the mountains. The Foyer Nordique offers equipment rental, and there's another sunny terrace at La Chalp for refreshments and snacks.

Downhill skiing

Crévoux offers pistes to satisfy even the most daring teenagers! If you'd like to give your children a sound technical grounding, the instructors at the French Ski School instructors are there to take care of your children, using teaching methods and fun that can't be invented. Whether in private or group lessons, learning with professionals is the best way to have fun.

For beginners, the snow front offers a gentle slope and a beginner-friendly ski lift with a dedicated lift pass, ideal for first-time skiers. Here again, the instructors from French Ski School can take over for greater efficiency. For the little ones, the Jardin des Neiges welcomes children from the age of 3 or 4 (to be arranged directly with the instructors).

Finally, the other advantage of the ESF is that it enables parents to get together, ski and enjoy the incredible playground that the Crévoux valley has to offer.

Nordic or cross-country skiing

Vary the pleasures and sensations of cross-country skiing!

Accessible from age 5 and less expensive than downhill skiing, cross-country skiing is a great way to share a new family experience.

The Nordic area of Crévoux will also give you the chance to see the mountains from a different, calmer, more natural angle, as you move away from La Chalp and into the forest or along the snow-covered torrent.

As with downhill skiing ESF instructors instructors are there to help you discover this discipline.

Biathlon

We've all seen biathlon events on TV, especially since Martin Fourcade's Olympic success, so why not give it a try?

Biathlon combines two disciplines: skating and rifle shooting. The rifles used are specific to biathlon, while laser rifles are used for the youngest athletes.

Accessible to children aged 6 and over, ESF will help you discover this specific discipline, with courses adapted to all levels and the "biathlon team" for those who wish to practice more intensively throughout the season.

Fill up on activities!

Snowshoeing is perhaps the easiest and most accessible way to discover snow-covered mountains. With a professional professional or by following the Nordic ski area's pedestrian trailsand experience nature as you've never seen it before! The pace of walking is more conducive to contemplation and allows you to observe how nature works in winter: animal tracks in the snow, birds, adaptation of vegetation...

A dog sled ride will be a unique and enchanting experience, a memory you'll cherish forever...so book well in advance, as this is a very popular activity.

For sports enthusiasts looking for adventure, Crévoux is also an ideal location for ski touring and ice climbing. Here too, professional mountain guides are essential to ensure that you enjoy these activities in complete safety, which have been made fun and accessible by advances in equipment.

To round off your stay in style and take a little Crévoux home with you, don't hesitate to stop off at Samuel's farm. You'll find delicious organic and local cheeses. Every evening at 6pm, you can watch the milking in the barn located just between the village and the ski resort.

'' We wanted our children to discover the mountains in their raw state, not rows of parallel runs on mountains that now look like nothing more than playgrounds, so exploited are they!!! The beauty and rustic simplicity of the valley allowed us to get together and enjoy some wonderful family moments: snowshoeing in wild places, discovering cross-country skiing and biathlon, as well as quality downhill skiing. Crévoux was our dream come true!
